In the Hobonichi Techo app, by linking with your device's photos, you can automatically record photos and videos taken with your smartphone to your timeline.
If photos/videos are not displayed automatically, or if they stopped appearing midway, please check the following in order to see if any apply.
*If "Cannot retrieve data from device" is displayed, please refer to this help page.
Photos are not connected / connection is released
Please check the settings with the following steps first.
*If you reinstall the app, settings will be reset and the connection will be released.
- Tap [Menu] at the bottom right of the app.
- Tap [Settings & Payment Information].
- Tap [Data Acquisition].
- Check if the [Photos] section is set to [Connected] or [Not Connected].

If [Not Connected]
Tapping [Not Connected] will open the device settings screen, so please allow "Full Access" for photos. *When connected for the first time, photos/videos from the current day and the past (up to 50 days before the start date) will be synced.
*If you reconnect after disconnecting once, photos/videos during the disconnected period will not be synced. -
If [Connected]
There is no problem with these settings, so please check the next item.

If [Not Connected]
Sync is taking time / Initial sync is in progress
When photos/videos are syncing, the text "Syncing..." and a Senpai illustration are displayed at the top right of the app screen. If you tap the Senpai illustration, the sync progress will be displayed, so please wait until the photo/video sync is finished.
If you completely close the app, the sync will stop, so please keep the app open (sync proceeds even in the background).
If there are many photos or videos included, it is likely to take time to sync.
Also, when linking photos for the first time in the Hobonichi Techo app, photos/videos are synced from 50 days prior to your start date. During this initial sync, since the number of photos/videos synced at once is large, it takes time (the more photos/videos, the longer it takes).
Photo/video data is not saved on the device
The "Hobonichi Techo app" reads and syncs photo/video data stored locally in the device's photo library (gallery). Please check if the data exists in the location where photos/videos taken with the device's camera are saved.

Please check if the data exists in the "Photos" library. -
For Android
The data storage location varies depending on the model. Please check if the data exists in the location where photos/videos taken with the device's camera are saved.
*Photo/video data saved in cloud services such as Google Photos cannot be synced directly to the Hobonichi Techo app.
Not displayed due to sync timing with device photos/videos
The timing when the "Hobonichi Techo app" syncs with the data in the device's photo library (gallery) is as follows. Please check if the non-displayed photos/videos are due to this sync timing.
■ Timing to sync photos/videos to the app

Sync timing
The app syncs and displays data at the following two types of timing.- When the Hobonichi Techo app is opened (Including when returning from the background to the foreground)
- Every 10 minutes while the app is kept open

Sync target
Syncs photos/videos whose dates in the data saved in the photo library (gallery) fall within the range from the last sync date/time to the current sync date/time.
■ About photos/videos added to the device later
For example, if you save photo/video data to the device's photo library (gallery) from outside by some method as follows, and the date/time of that data is outside the sync target range, it will not be automatically synced to the app.
- When importing photo/video data from external devices such as cameras
- When acquiring and saving photo/video data via AirDrop, etc.
- When downloading photo/video data from websites or external services
Example) If you launch the app and sync photos/videos on 20/10/2025, and then import photo data dated 19/10/2025 to the device by some method, that photo data will not be automatically synced to the app.
You can manually post photo data from the "+" button at the bottom of the app screen (refer to this help for detailed steps).
If none of the above apply
If none of the above causes apply, please try the following.
*Past data that failed to be retrieved due to sync timing will not be re-synced even if the following operations are performed.
Update the app to the latest version
Please update the app to the latest version from the app store and check if syncing occurs thereafter.
Restart the app
Please completely close the app once, then restart it and check if syncing occurs.
Re-login to the app
Please re-login to the app with the following steps and check if syncing occurs.
- Open [Menu] -> [Settings & Payment Information] at the bottom right of the app screen.
- Tap the [Log Out] button at the bottom of the screen to log out.
- Completely close the app once, then restart it.
- After restarting, please [Log In] with the same account.

- Specific situation as much as possible (e.g., "Photos/videos after MM/DD are not displayed at all", "Specific screenshot of DD/MM is not displayed")
- Model name of your device and OS version
